Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups cake flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
For the Syrup
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp vodka
  • 2 tbsp Grand Marnier
  • 2 tbsp Disaronno

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • baking pan

Method

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a Bundt pan generously with butter and dust it with flour to ensure the cake releases smoothly.
Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients
  1. Whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, milk, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until thoroughly combined.
Step 3: Combine Dry Ingredients
  1. Sift the cake flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Create a well in the center and pour in the wet ingredients.
Step 4: Fold and Bake
  1. Slowly fold the melted butter into the batter until it’s smooth and lump-free. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Step 5: Prepare the Syrup
  1. While the cake bakes, prepare the syrup by combining water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and stir in vodka, Grand Marnier, and Disaronno.
Step 6: Soak the Cake
  1. Once the cake is out of the oven, let it cool for 10 minutes before turning it onto a wire rack. Then, brush the warm syrup generously over the entire cake and let it soak in for maximum flavor.
