Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, sugar, and flour. Mix well.
- Add in the butter, eggs, and milk. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
- Now, divide the batter into two bowls. In one bowl, add the vanilla essence and mix it in. In the second bowl, add the strawberry essence and a few drops of pink food color (if you want to make the strawberry part vibrant and pretty).
- Using a spoon, alternate adding spoonfuls of the vanilla and strawberry batters to the centre of the cake pan. Once both batters are added, use a butter knife or skewer to gently swirl them together to create a marbled effect. Be careful not to overmix—you want the beautiful swirls to remain intact!
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
1. Room Temperature Ingredients are Key
To ensure your cake batter is smooth and evenly mixed, make sure all your ingredients (like butter, eggs, and milk) are at room temperature before you start. This will help them blend together more easily, preventing any lumps and ensuring a soft, fluffy cake texture.
2. Use a Light Hand When Swirling
The marbled effect is what makes this cake so beautiful! To achieve perfect swirls, avoid overmixing the batter. After adding spoonful's of the vanilla and strawberry batters into the pan, use a knife or skewer to gently swirl. Less is more—just a few swirls will create a gorgeous pattern without blending the colors too much.
3. Don’t Skip the Butter and Flour Prep
Greasing and flouring your cake pan is essential for easy release after baking. If you want extra assurance, line your pan with parchment paper before adding the batter. This ensures your cake comes out perfectly shaped every time without sticking to the sides.
